Any interior can be warmed up very easily with a few clever tricks. You are able to do it yourself, all you need is a little imagination and a few tips from me.
1. Lighting
The choice of lighting is very important. Both in terms of ecology, safety and aesthetics. Caring for the welfare of the planet and our future as its residents, let’s always choose energy-saving bulbs. Let’s also pay attention to whether a particular bulb is safe for the eyes.
For the bedroom, it is best to choose warm lighting, the kind that resembles sunlight at sunset. A warm hue is pleasant and conducive to relaxation. For workplaces, it is best to use cold colored lighting, as it stimulates the body to work, resembling natural daylight on a bright day. Indirect light or neutral white light corresponds to sunlight on an ordinary day.
Both types of lighting can be used in the living room. Warm light is to be used when we want to relax in the evenings and natural white when we need more light for work or meeting with friends.
2. Carpets and rugs
A very effective treatment for warming up a room and adding character to it are all kinds of rugs and carpets. My handmade rugs will work perfectly here 🙂 A large crocheted rug for a living room can warm it up, complement the interior by giving it character, and will wrap our feet with its warmth and soft texture.
In a children’s room, the central place is the play space on the floor. The location of the carpet will be an ideal play area and will also make the room not seem empty, that it is missing something.
The bedroom also needs a soft carpet, preferably close to the bed. It’s nice, after waking up, to put your bare feet on something soft and pleasant. A rug will also add a character of coziness and warmth.
Some people don’t like carpets in the kitchen and hallway. In the kitchen it can easily get dirty during preparation of a meal and if used in the hallway then it would be spoiled with dirt from shoes. A good solution are small rugs that can be easily washed in the washing machine. A rug for the kitchen and a rug for the hallway will make these rooms cozy and warm.
3. Curtains in the windows
Although not everyone likes curtains or curtains in the windows, it is worth thinking about at least something delicate. Empty exposed windows are harsh, you get the feeling that everyone is looking at you through them.
A clever trick is to hang a delicate airy curtain or light cotton or linen curtains. The room will immediately become warmer and you will feel more intimate.
4. Pouf as a decorative element, coffee table, seat or footstool
Handmade poufs made from cotton cord are the perfect addition to any home. They bring warmth to any interior. They are practical and fulfill several functions, from a pouf or a footstool to a coffee table.
The cover of the pouf can be easily removed for washing. The pouf is made of leather imitation with padding inside. It is recommended to fill the pouf upholstery once a year so that it does not lose its original shape.
This unusual piece of furniture will visually emphasize the character of your room.
5. Accessories such as blankets, plaids, pillows
A clever and easy way to warm up the interior are accessories like wool blankets, plaids and pillows. Materials of different colors and textures enliven the interior, so here you can let your imagination run wild with colors and textures.
At the same time, these accessories are very practical, as they are always at hand when you want to cover yourself on a cool evening or support your back with a comfortable and soft pillow.
6. Cut and potted flowers
One easy and inexpensive way to warm up an interior is with plants. Whether they are cut flowers or potted plants, they will literally liven up any interior.
With cut flowers, depending on the season, we will bring color, fragrance and the season into the home. Treated well, they can please the eye for up to two weeks.
Potted plants, however, are more expensive. There is a way around this! We can grow a plant ourselves from seeds which are cheap to buy. This requires patience, regular care of the plant, but I guarantee that the satisfaction will be priceless.
7. Family photographs, paintings, posters on the walls
The last easy but very effective trick is to fill the walls. Bare walls make a room seem empty and cold. Hanging something on the walls will make the room instantly feel fuller and cozier. This can be framed photographs from vacations, photos of loved ones.
Entering such a house, we have the impression that a real family actually lives there and the apartment is filled with love. Looking at the photographs, we can reminisce about the happy moments captured on those.
We can also hang pictures or posters on the walls. The more colorful the better. They do not have to be evenly placed on the wall, they blend better when the composition layout is asymmetrical.
